A Story of “ Town mouse country mouse” and a wedding 11 years in the making.
Vicky & Dave met like many others outside what is considered a Cork institution, The Brog pub on Oliver Plunkett Street. The rest as they say is history, It was 10 years into their relationship that Dave proposed, In Adare Manor next to the oldest tree in Ireland in November 2015 after nearly 10 years together this was still a huge surprise to Vicky! Growing up the countryside Vicky has always had an appreciation for nature and the land something which has rubbed off on Dave, traditionally Harvest time is a huge celebration in rural areas, giving thanks for all nature provides as well as an excuse for a huge party! So for this reason they chose October 6th for their wedding.
Ballinacurra House in Kinsale proved the perfect venue for their Harvest celebration. Dave being a graphic designer took charge of the invitations and artwork for the day, which were in the same autumnal woodland theme.
The idea behind the entire day from the Church St Marks Kilbonane in Aherla, which was Vicky’s grandparent’s church, to the Cocktails served at the drinks reception was to have meaning behind everything. They took inspiration from the autumn landscape for the décor using a rich palette of burgundy; gold and green with the men dressed in tweed. The floral arrangements were foliage and seed heads to reflect the natural autumn countryside and the garden room in Ballinacurra was transformed into woodland giving the house an inside outside feel. After dinner they danced the night away to ska band Pontius Pilot and the Nail drivers and Dj Colm Minchion.
The following day there was a laid back Hootenanny for all their friends and family also held in Ballinacurra. “What we wanted was to have a huge party and celebration for all our friends and family and for everybody to really enjoy the day, I think we achieved that, from looking back over the photos of our wedding, everybody is smiling, laughing and looks so happy! So I think that speaks volumes, in years to come we can look back over the photographs of the day and see both ourselves everybody we love smiling back at us and that in itself is priceless”
